VOLUNTEER

To thank our awesome volunteers they will be fed throughout the day and will receive receive some great perks like a volunteer Ribfest shirt!

One of the better known benefits of volunteering is the impact it can have on the community as volunteers are often the glue that holds it together. Even helping out with the smallest of tasks can make a real difference to the lives of people and organizations in need.

Volunteering at RIBFEST is a two-way street. Not only can it can benefit you and your family as much as the causes Rotary supports, but dedicating your time as a volunteer can help you make new friends, expand your network, and boost your social skills.

RIBFEST volunteers can self-register for shifts they are interested in using our  volunteer portal through the link above.

If you have any issues or would like to enquire about volunteering, please contact Alistair Henry, Volunteer Coordinator.

Group volunteering

Volunteering with a group is a great way to build spirit and promote your organization. We would love to have some blocks of volunteers from different community groups to cover off specific areas of our event. Gather together your sports team, community organization, neighbourhood association, or even just a group of friends and register to volunteer together!

Student volunteers

Your volunteer time at RIBFEST could count towards your volunteer hours for graduation. We would be happy to provide a letter acknowledging the donation of your time.

Volunteers under 18 years of age

Volunteers under the age of 18 are welcomed, however they will require the permission of their parents or guardians.

Criminal record checks

A police criminal record check is required for some volunteer positions. there are two types:

  • Working with Vulnerable People Sector check is required if you will be working with children in either the Family Fun Zone or the Family Bar.
  • Non Vulnerable People Sector check is required if you will be handling any cash on site (ticket sales, pop sales, etc.)
We urge you to apply early, especially for the “Working with Vulnerable People” check, as they can take some time and the police department has limited ability to process a large volume of requests in a short time frame.

You will need a copy of this letter confirming you’re a volunteer to take to the police department in the city you live in. Please be sure to change the date at the top and to replace [insert your name] with your full name.

All letters should be returned to us before your first shift. You can bring it with you to the Volunteer Desk at RIBFEST at the time you sign-in with us for your first shift. All letters will be kept confidential.
